Children’s Concert and Instrument Petting Zoo
Last year’s Children’s Concert was a gigantic success story as every seat in McKenzie Theater was filled! We are expecting another sell out performance when we again host the Children’s Concert on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at 12:30 pm in McKenzie Theater on the EOU campus. The children’s concert program will include portions of the evening’s concert, including Tschaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite.
The concert will also include an introduction to the unique sounds of the various instruments that comprise an orchestra. Students get to hear and see the variations among the four main stringed instruments and they also get to hear and see the differences among the wind and brass instruments. And of course there are the many percussive sounds on a wide variety of instruments. We will again offer an “instrument petting zoo” which will give every attendee an opportunity to “saw” on a violin. The smiles that emanate from each student as they create music with their own hands right underneath their ear is so very rewarding.
If you would like to help us with ushering and the instrument petting zoo, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We welcome and need volunteers for this event! For further information please contact Patty Sandoz at 541-963-7595.
